‍ ‍STARS FOR THE STARS

The first Stars contributed over £2,000 to back the launch of The Hazels - The UK Space Skills Awards on 24 June at Cheltenham Town Hall with Helen Sharman, the first British Astronaut as our special guest, and an out of this world performance by the dance-circus company, Motionhouse.

The visible and prestigious Gala Awards ceremony will showcase the diversity and range of skills used in the UK Space industry as well as the amazing people who work in and for the industry.

We will show how traditional crafts and skills are being repurposed for the 21st century. Ultimately, we aim to make a skills based qualifications and careers route as valuable and as valued as the more traditional GCSE - A level - university route and place skills on an equal par in the hearts and minds of pupils, parents, teachers and careers counsellors alike.

The Hazels - The UK Space Skills Awards will inspire many to join the UK Space industry, but more than that, it will provide an aspirational focal point to begin that journey of change.
